Medtronic’s Hugo soft tissue system won Food and Drug Administration clearance earlier this month for its first indication, setting the stage for a U.S. market share battle with robotics leader Intuitive Surgical.
Days later, SS Innovations International said it filed an FDA submission seeking authorization for the SSi Mantra robot in multiple procedure types, also in the soft tissue surgical category led by Intuitive.
