Name: Jim Peichel
New title: Chief technology officer, Medtronic
Previous title: Vice president of cardiac implantables technology development center, Medtronic
Peichel will become Medtronic’s next chief technology officer, the executive posted on his LinkedIn page last week. Peichel has worked at Medtronic for more than 25 years, most recently with the company’s implantable cardiac devices.
“I am confident that together, we will continue to push boundaries, explore new technologies, and deliver impactful solutions for patients around the world,” Peichel wrote on LinkedIn. “I’m grateful for the trust placed in me and excited for what the future holds.”
Peichel’s appointment follows Ken Washington’s retirement as Medtronic’s former chief technology and innovation officer, effective Nov. 14. Washington worked at Medtronic since June 2023, according to a LinkedIn post announcing his retirement. During his tenure, he focused on artificial intelligence, digital technologies, robotics and sustainability.
“I’m confident these efforts will continue to thrive under continued strong leadership,” Washington wrote.
Medtronic’s recent digital efforts include a study of its Hugo robot in gynecological procedures and an expansion of its AI and robotics hub in London.
