SNAQ, the clinically validated AI nutritionist for diabetes, prediabetes, and metabolic health, today announced the appointment of Russell "Russ" Johannesson, a veteran digital health executive and current CEO of Caregentic, to its board of directors. Johannesson previously served as CEO of Glooko, where he more than tripled recurring revenue and took the company to break-even, raising more than $250 million in equity and debt, and integrating four acquisitions along the way.
Under his leadership, Glooko became the world's largest cardiometabolic connected care platform, deployed in 31 countries and supporting more than 1.2 million patients across 8,000 health systems and clinics.
"I have spent most of my career at the intersection of health data and care delivery, and in diabetes, the hardest problem has always been food," said Johannesson. "SNAQ is the first team I have seen combine credible clinical evidence with technology people actually use every day, at every meal. That combination is rare, and it is ready to scale."
Johannesson was elected at SNAQ's Annual General Meeting in June 2026. He joins a board chaired by Derek Brandt, CEO of Diabetes Center Berne and a board member of mylife Diabetescare, Europe's largest provider of automated insulin delivery systems. As a board member, Johannesson will work with the management team on three fronts: profitable scale, partnerships, and financing.
"Millions of people manage a metabolic condition with no nutrition support at all," said Aurelian Briner, CEO and Co-Founder of SNAQ. "We have the clinical evidence that SNAQ works. What we now need is reach, and Russ has built exactly that in diabetes care, at a scale almost nobody else has."
SNAQ is the AI nutritionist for diabetes, prediabetes, and metabolic health, used by more than 300,000 members worldwide and trusted by hundreds of clinicians. Backed by four peer-reviewed clinical studies, including a published randomized controlled trial, SNAQ removes the guesswork around food with proactive, personalized guidance at every meal.
