Name: John Landry
New title: CFO, CVRx
Previous title: CFO, Nyxoah
CVRx said Monday that John Landry will join the company next month to fill the CFO post being vacated by Jared Oasheim.
The company, which sells the Barostim heart failure device, received notice in June that Oasheim plans to step down. Landry is leaving Nyxoah, which sells a sleep apnea device, to fill the vacancy. Landry previously served as CFO of Vapotherm, a respiratory technology company.
Landry is “exactly the kind of finance leader we need for this next chapter,” CVRx CEO Kevin Hykes said in a statement. Hykes, who joined CVRx as CEO in 2024, highlighted Landry’s experience of “building and financing high-growth medical device companies.”
Landry will join CVRx on Oct. 12 and take over as CFO when the company files its 10-Q financial filing for the quarter ending Sept. 30. Consistent with the previously disclosed transition, Oasheim will remain at CVRx for a period to smooth the leadership change.
CVRx is under pressure to improve commercial performance. Last month, the company cut its full-year revenue forecast. The cut reflected rapid hiring that “strained our onboarding and training processes and the ability of our area sales directors to spend the time necessary to accelerate these new team members up the productivity curve,” Hykes said on an earnings call.
Weeks after CVRx lowered its guidance, an activist investor called for the board to “immediately initiate a comprehensive process to sell the Company to a strategic operator that can more efficiently unlock its significant underlying value.” The investor, Pointillist Family Office, cited “three guidance resets in three years and a near-term outlook that implies little growth” as evidence of the need for change.
CVRx’s board responded publicly, agreeing with the investor about Barostim’s prospects and a perceived disconnect between the company’s potential and valuation. While the board said it regularly evaluates a full range of options, it expressed confidence in the company’s strategies for growing sales while managing expenses.
