Dexcom has bought Nutrisense, a company that makes a wellness app that uses data from continuous glucose monitors.
Nutrisense sells subscription packages that include Dexcom’s over-the-counter CGM, Stelo, glucose tracking and coaching sessions with a dietitian. The programs are not open to people who take insulin or who have problematic hypoglycemia.
Dexcom, which announced the deal on Thursday, did not disclose the terms. The diabetes tech firm said adding Nutrisense would strengthen the company’s ability to provide personalized nutrition guidance and help link food choices to glucose responses.
Dexcom also announced modifications to its Stelo app, after receiving Food and Drug Administration clearance for the changes last month. The update, which is expected to take place later this summer, will add pattern recognition features, artificial intelligence coaching, and personalized daily and weekly summaries.
Stelo can be used by adults who do not take insulin, including people with Type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, or people who are interested in using it for wellness purposes.
Insulet improves latest patch pump
Insulet has updated the algorithm for its latest insulin patch pump, the Omnipod 5, the company said Wednesday.
The update includes a lower target glucose option at 100 mg/dL, providing more choices for care settings. The change also includes improvements to how the algorithm handles alarms, allowing users to stay in automated mode with fewer interruptions.
Insulet also said it has added compatibility between Omnipod 5 and Abbott’s latest glucose sensor, the Libre 3 Plus.
Beta Bionics shares real world data
Ahead of the American Diabetes Association’s Scientific Sessions, Beta Bionics shared real-world data on its automated insulin delivery system, the iLet Bionic Pancreas. The company published a dashboard Tuesday comparing its users’ average baseline hemoglobin A1c levels to after they started using iLet.
Beta Bionics said the data includes outcomes for all users who have a provider-reported baseline HbA1c and at least two weeks of data. The company plans to continue to update the database in the future.
